I thought we might get to a discussion of Beauford Delaney's work--including this painting of Marion Anderson. Maybe that will happen in our next class. Delaney's reasons for making the painting--and how Marion Anderson figures in the history of mid-20th century American life. Both have to do with the words I've given you  for this week.
